I hope you had a lovely holiday season with family and friends. If you’re like most of us, you probably ate a lot of rich and delicious food and maybe drank a little (or a lot) too much. That’s what these seasons are for. We celebrate family and our connections to each other and to life. When it’s all over, you might step on the scale and wish you hadn’t eaten quite so much. But I don’t believe in guilt.
I believe in moderation. That means that sometimes you’re going to eat and drink more than normal and you shouldn’t feel guilty about it. It’s part of our human rituals that connect us to each other and they’re important. Once you get back to every day life, you can go back to moderation, but maybe your body needs a little “pick-me-up,” to feel better after the excess.
I have you covered.
My husband and I live in Greece and this means we are often invited to celebrations (sometimes “just because” parties) where we eat and drink a lot of great food and alcohol. Most of the time, we feel just fine the next day. But occasionally we overindulge and my husband then asks me to make my replenish drink.
Replenish Recipe
I first made this when my husband was working outside in the hot Greek sun. He was sweating so much that he couldn’t keep his electrolytes in balance. We avoid commercial formulas as they are often packed with sugar and chemicals that we don’t want in our bodies. So I made a natural “gatorade” instead. My husband loves it because it’s delicious, refreshing, and instantly makes him feel better and more balanced. And he knows every ingredient is safe, healthy, and made with love.

Great News!
If you don’t already know, I signed a publishing deal this summer for my first herbal book: The Mediterranean Herbalist: Stories and Herbal Remedies from Italy and Greece. It’s more than just what herbs do. It’s my journey through Mediterranean herbalism, learning the ancient medicine that lives in the hearts of the people and in the soil of this magnificent land. The book will be released in 2026, and I’ll let my email list know the exact date as we get closer.”
I love to hear from my readers.
