A Mother’s Hug

A steamy cup of tea on a book.

Whenever I or a patient are in need of healing from a cold or flu, this is my go to. I will often give other remedies, such as oregano oil, to combat the virus, but for general healing and comfort, nothing beats this. I call it Mother’s Hug because that is what it feels like and because I first made it for my daughter when she was struggling with a bad fever. The pinch of cayenne does the trick every time and often needs only one dose to break a fever. Drink this at least three times a day for relief and to bring back full health.

  • 1 fresh lemon squeezed into a mug
  • 1 small cinnamon stick (or 1/2 large stick)
  • 4-6 whole cloves
  • 1 pinch of cayenne (if fever is present)
  • 1 slice of fresh ginger (if available)
  • 1 large spoon of local, unpasteurized honey

Directions:

  1. Pour hot water over all, cover with a lid or small plate, and steep for 10-15 minutes.
  2. While infusing, the preparer should send healing intentions and love into the drink for maximum benefit.
  3. Uncover and drink all while still hot (being careful not to burn yourself!).
